"We welcomed Tomato into our family last fall, and we have had so much fun with him since. Tomato is our first Brittany, and certainly will not be the last. Since coming home, he has shown so much resilience and confidence, all due to Dan's immense attention and care in raising his puppies. His bird drive is intense and instinctive. He loves to learn and to work. He charges into every situation with confidence and no apprehension -- the first time we took him swimming, he jumped right into the water with no hesitation! He is the perfect adventure partner, and we are so lucky to have such a beautiful boy in our family. His coat is wonderfully soft and very easy to manage, and he is the perfect size.
Dan was absolutely phenomenal to work with, and I have no doubt that when we are ready for another Brittany we will be returning to Spiegel Bird Dogs. "During my hunt for my next Brittany, I came across Spiegel Bird dogs on an online platform. Looking further into Dan and Spiegel Bird dogs, my wife and I found the puppy cam! We fell in love with all the puppies on the cam, so me being me, I called Dan and asked if he had any available. Unfortunately, at the time, he did not.
Fast forward 2 years, and I get a phone call, completely forgetting about seeing these puppies. Speaking to Dan for 2 hrs on the phone, I knew we had found our breeder! Dan's knowledge and experience with these dogs was fascinating. Weekly updates, endless info, pictures, FaceTimes. He was setting us up for our future fur baby. He was always there to answer questions we had, help us in our decision on picking THE Perfect dog for us, what we are doing, and any advice we needed. Birch is just shy of a year old and he is an amazingly smart, has a personality that makes anyone want him and a nose and eyes like nothing I’ve seen before. Spiegel Bird dogs and Dan is the only breeder we will be getting our future pups from, from here on out.

Working with Dan was the best decision we could have ever made when getting our pup, Ranger! The entire process was so thorough, it gave us a sense of calm and felt incredibly informative. Before the pups were even born, I had a conversation with Dan to get an idea of his process and how he cares for both the mama and the babies once they arrive. It helped me feel at ease and made the decision clear. Dan was very communicative, always provided updates so that we knew where he was in the process, giving us confidence in him.
Once the babies were here, it was such an exciting time! And the fact that he provides a puppy cam was a huge hit in our household! Not only did our kids love watching the babies grow every day, but my husband and I would often turn it on during the day several times just to check in on the pups. It was an added bonus we didn't know we needed. Having our Ranger has been such a joy - he is a healthy, snuggly, energetic dog with top tier intelligence. It's nice to see his pedigree as well, and know that he comes from strong genetics.
We are so grateful for the care and service that Dan has provided to us, and have been so impressed by everything that we already got ourselves on the waitlist for 2027 to bring home a brother for our Ranger. Dan is knowledgeable, caring and supportive.

Our Lucy is our 4th Brittany. She is just a great pup. She is beautiful, extremely athletic, loves to please, Super affectionate, Great temperament, great nose (picks up scent and points sometimes 30 ft away), loves our grandkids, just a wonderful Brittany.
Didn’t get to work her much with birds her first 5 months. I did work on getting her prepared for the gun. Season opening she was about six months old and really first time in the woods hunting, she went from shy and cautious the first few days to finding, pointing, holding birds and retrieving to me within a week. Ended up with a several grouse and much woodcock. Couldn't be more excited about this upcoming season.

Dan has a great breeding program and the dogs are beautiful. I’ve had Brittany’s for over 44 years and my male High Velocity Magnum Jack is the most laid back one I’ve ever owned. Dan’s program of the care he has for the pups is hands down awesome. Be sure to watch the puppy cam. If at my old age I was to consider another one I would surely connect with him.

From my very first conversation with Dan, I knew that I struck gold. Dan's care and compassion for his puppies, and the Brittany breed, come through in every interaction. I received regular updates on the litter, in addition to being able to watch them grow daily on the puppy cam!
Dan made sure I was fully prepared ahead of time for our puppy delivery, and also sent over a list of suggestions for gear, supplies, and training tips, which I found incredibly useful.
When we finally received our puppy, the best way I could describe her is "perfect"! Not only was she healthy, but also amazingly well behaved. A few weeks in, and her hunting instincts from this exceptional bloodline are already showing up daily. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend Dan to anyone, and he will be my first call for a future puppy!

You can tell from the initial interaction that Dan has a true love for his dogs, their puppies and the Brittany breed. His knowledge and care are truly five stars. Throughout the entire process, communication has been wonderful. Dan is honest and open and promptly responds to any questions I have. Once the puppies were born my entire family watched them grow and develop on the puppy cam. The puppy “pen” was immaculate, and the pups had everything they needed to flourish. Once the puppies reached the appropriate age, I was able to schedule visits to meet the litter. When the day came to bring my Jasper home, he was a healthy, confident, happy little guy. I received a puppy, Gunner, out of the PiperxLucky breeding in 2024. Gunner is my 5th Brittany, from 3 different breeders, and first Liver/White. The experience I had with Dan was by far the best. The information provided was amazing. Including; litter status/progress, puppy raising tips (feeding, training, etc.), and the puppy cam (probably the best!). Gunner has exceeded all my hopes for a Brittany. His personality is great. His size is wonderful. And his coat is amazing! It sheds burrs/water like no other Brittany I've owned. I have had Bizzy (Pearl) for 7 months and she's already shown great acumen in the field, and is an even better family dog. Skadi is our second Brittany. We are an active family from Northern Michigan who loves to upland bird hunt. We were looking for not only for a hunting dog but a family companion as well. I discovered Spiegel’s Bird Dogs online from their website and reached out to Dan. Based on the website and the first conversation with him, I knew I found a breeder that not only had a great deal of love for his litters, but the Brittany breed as a whole.
We welcomed Skadi into our home in July of 2024. Our first impression of her when we brought her home was how sweet and well socialized, she was. She loves to play and our long walks in the woods. At night, she loves getting her head and belly rubbed while unwinding after a long day. Skadi is intelligent and driven. She learned basic commands quickly and loves working on them in the back yard. I took her on her first hunt when she was just over six months old and got some birds. The sky is the limit for her in the field and I look forward to watching her grow and develop into the best bird dog she can be. Skadi is exactly what we wanted in a bird dog and family pet and we could not be happier with her!

When we were looking for Bailey, we stumbled across Dan’s program on the AKC website and knew that it was a match made in heaven. As a young couple getting our first Brittany we couldn’t have asked for a better breeder. Dan was exceptional to work with. You can hear the love he has for the breed when you speak to him for the first time on the phone. His state of the art equipment that he has to ensure the safety and heath of the pups and of Piper is amazing. He kept us well updated with Pipers pregnancy and educated us on so much while we waited for the pups to be born. We never missed an article that he posted on his blog.
Then when the pups were born it was so fun to watch them grow and develop on the puppy camera. I think the best part was when we came to meet the puppies a few weeks before they were old enough to go home. We weren’t sure who we were leaning towards more based on their personalities we could see when watching them. But thankfully Parsley picked us by licking our faces and solidifying her spot in our hearts. She is the most affectionate and loving dog I have ever meet. Her tail wags constantly and you can see how intelligent she is with how quickly she picks things up.
We would recommend Spiegel Bird Dogs to anyone looking to add a Brittany to their family. They will be lucky to have a pup from Dan and can be confident knowing they will be getting a dog that is well socialized, loved from before day one, and the best dog a person could ask for.
